VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd, a joint venture between the Volvo Group of Sweden and Eicher Motors of India and MCKV Institute of Engineering (MCKVIE), have forged an alliance to establish MCKVIE - Eicher Centre For Automobile Technology - a state-of-the-art automobile training centre, according to a MCKVIE statement.
The Indian automotive industry is witnessing exponential growth and the need for skilled and competent human resource is humungous. MCKVIE and VECV have identified industry-institute alliance as one of the best ways to address this gap and develop competent manpower, noted the report.
The MCKVIE - Eicher Centre For Automobile Technology is equipped with practice units, dynamics cut-section-models, special tools, wall charts, measuring instruments and diagnostic equipment for practical sessions. This would be a Centre of Excellence in east India which would not only give the student community exposure to hands on training but also give professionals a scope to upgrade their skill and share their experience with the experts in the field, said the report.
Speaking about the new alliance, Vinod Agarwal, CEO, VE Commercial Vehicles said: "The objective of this endeavour with MCKVIE is to teach students the latest automobile technology and prepare them to face the challenges of the industry. This is the only industry-institution joint venture initiative by VECV in Eastern India. What is more, this set up will also be used as a Regional Competence Development Centre of VECV for training Eicher dealership personnel of Eastern Region".
Furthermore, Parasar Bandyopadhyay, Principal of MCVIE said numerous short term modular courses would be offered under this centre.
