State-owned steel major, Steel Authority of India Limited, the nation’s second-biggest producer of the alloy steel, is seeking to buy 500,000 metric tonnes of coking coal from June to November this year, according to the tender notice, issued by SAIL.

The company’s coal import group has floated a global notice inviting tender for procurement of 500,000 tonnes of imported freshly mined prime quality washed or unwashed hard coking coal.
The imported coking coal to be supplied should have a size ranging from 0-50 mm while the total moisture content should be eight percent ash content should be eight percent, whereas sulphur content should be 0.6 percent. Those interested can submit their bids till May 14, 2012 till 12.00 hrs while the bids will be open immediately after expiry of the deadline for submission of bids.
