Renault India, the wholly owned subsidiary of French car maker Renault s.a.s., today took another step ahead in showing its commitment to the Indian automobile market with the introduction of the petrol variant of the premium hatchback, Renault Pulse for Rs 4,25,000.
Renault India had launched Pulse during the Delhi Auto Expo in January this year in two trim levels powered by the 1.5 litre, K9K diesel engine.
Speaking on the occasion Marc Nassif, Managing Director, Renault India said: “Pulse is a mass market product for India, designed and developed at our design studio in Mumbai, has always been an important product for Renault India. We are highly pleased with the product’s performance and it has been well accepted by the Indian customers. The new Renault Pulse petrol is a product launched for our Indian customers and it will help us to broaden its customer base and cater to customers who are looking for a comfortable premium hatch with a competitive price tag".
Renault Pulse epitomises the French car maker's philosophy of bringing affordable cars with innovative technology and sporty, dynamic design. The car, which was designed at the Renault design studio in Mumbai brings in a host of features which are user friendly and innovative.
Engine and Transmission
Renault Pulse petrol is powered by an inline, three-cylinder, 1198 cc, DOHC, 12 valve engine, that ranks among the best-in-class in terms of fuel efficiency and performance, as per ARAI test data Pulse achieves 18.06 Kmpl. The petrol engine delivers maximum power of 76 PS @ 6000 rpm and peak torque of 104 Nm @ 4000 rpm. The engine is replete with a five-speed manual transmission. Same as the Renault Pulse diesel K9K engine, the new petrol engine is also manufactured locally at the Renault – Nissan Alliance factory located in Oragadam on the outskirts of Chennai.
Features and safety
Renault Pulse petrol is available in three different variants RxE, RxL and RxZ and is an ideal introduction of the Renault world to the young and aspiring Indian customers. The top of the line variant Pulse petrol RxZ offers dual airbags adding to both driver and passenger safety, equipped with ABS with EBD, illuminated engine start-stop button, fouldable outside rear view mirrors, automatic climate control, smart access key, rear defogger with timer, front fog lamps and more.
The Pulse petrol RxL variant is equipped with a the driver air-bag, electronic power steering, front and rear power windows, central locking, air conditioning, integrated audio system, rear wiper and washer and follow-me headlamps. The Renault Pulse petrol RxE variant comes in with the driver airbag, electronic power steering, central locking, air conditioning and follow-me headlamps. The Pulse rides on standard 14 inch wheels with Macpherson struts in the front and coil springs in the rear which adds stabilty to the ride and gives the car superb driving dynamics.
The new Renault Pulse petrol is available in Pearl White, Metallic Red, Solid Black, Metallic Silver, Metallic Grey and Champagne Gold colour. The vehicle petrol is priced at Rs 425,000 for the RxE, Rs, 499,000 for the RxL and Rs. 555,000 for the RxZ variant (Ex-Showroom, New Delhi).
