Maruti Suzuki seeks divine intervention, organises prayer meeting in Gurgaon

Maruti Suzuki management decides to organise a havan and prayer meeting at the Manesar plant today, a day before partial resumption of operations at the factory and visit by Suzuki chairman from Japan, according to a HT report.

A review meeting of the top brass of the Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), Haryana police and labour department was held on Friday, noted the report.

The officials included Haryana DGP RS Dalal, Gurgaon police commissioner KK Sindhu, Haryana labour commissioner Satwant Ahalawat, MSIL chief operating officer (administration) SY Siddiqui among others. As many as 500 police personnel have already been deployed on the factory premises. Meanwhile, a large number of Japanese engineers have rejoined work at the Manesar plant where they fixed machines which had been vandalised by the agitating workers.

Gurgaon police commissioner KK Sindhu issued fresh instructions to the police on the security angle with special emphasis on workers' unrest. He also asked the police to remain alert and keep a check on any protest by workers. 'If any worker or management complains to the police, action should be taken immediately,' Sindhu added. DCPs of all three zones were asked to increase night patrolling.
