Mobile phone manufacturer Lava is contemplating on investing in excess of Rs 55 crore this year as part of its strategy to enhance its R&D prowess, besides launching a tablet PC for less than Rs 10,000 in August this year, according to a PTI report. What is more, the company also has plans to introduce two smartphone models by September, noted the report.
SN Rai, Director and Co-Founder of Lava said: 'This year we are investing close to Rs 55 crore. Next month, we will launch tablet PC in the price range of Rs 7,000 and Rs 8,000'. The tablet PC will have a seven inch capacitive touchscreen, 1.2 Ghz processor, and 4GB internal and 16 GB external memory. Furthermore, experts have forecast that market for Indian tablet PC have the potential of growing to a million units volume in the next one year, the report added.
