Indian Shoe Federation to launch online `Component Bazaar’

The Indian Shoe Federation (ISF), having many leading manufacturers and exporters of footwear and footwear components as its members, will launch an on line `Component Bazaar’ on September 17, 2011. It will be click-started by Mr M Rafeeque Ahmed, Chairman, Council for Leather Exports (CLE), during the annual general meeting of the federation on that day.

The `Component Bazaar’ is expected to give the ISF members  a secure, confidential and dynamic platform to search, identify and procure a wide range of leathers, components and materials.

The 19-year old ISF has been helping its members constantly upgrade technology, use best materials and skill, maintain strict quality control and fine tune customer orientation.

ISF sources said the `Component Bazaar’ is an information technology-driven  channel management system `` to provide a comprehensive online marketplace for companies to buy and sell residual and superfluous inventory comprising leathers, components and materials.

It will be an e-commerce portal designed to operate in the specialized space of facilitating buying and selling surplus inventory between members.

This initiative will assist the members to:

  • Get maximum salvage value for the surplus materials
  • Save time, and reduce paper work
  • Enhance and optimize buyer-seller partnerships
  • Sell and buy directly at best prices
  • Avoid exorbitant resale pricing and overpayments
  • Ensure a win-win situation for all the partners

Besides all these, ISF has been promoting the growth of the Indian footwear industry globally through the adoption of modern, transparent and superior industry practices to lead it to greater heights and international visibility.

 It also co-ordinates with the Government in overcoming procedural and policy bottlenecks for the smooth conduct of business.

 To facilitate this process, ISF is actively pursuing the following initiatives:

  • Setting up training centers at various footwear clusters.
  • Partnering with National Productivity Council to set-up standard norms for various footwear manufacturing operations.
  • Implementing productivity improvement techniques in various footwear factories.
  • Promoting Indian Design Capabilities and helping in "advanced preparedness" of the industry through the "Design Station' project in collaboration with CLE, CLRI and UNIDO.
  • Promoting Joint Venture and Foreign Direct Investments in collaboration with the CLE.
