Dr B Arvind Shah, MD and CEO of Arvind Remedies Ltd, a fast-growing pharmaceutical Company, was felicitated with the ‘Samaj Rathna’ Award. Dr Shah received the Award from Pratibha Patil, the outgoing President of India, at a function held at The Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Award has been constituted by the Amravati Cancer Foundation, a charitable foundation based at Vidharba, Maharashtra, to create awareness about Cancer, which also runs a hospital to treat terminally-ill cancer patients.
Accepting the Award, Dr. Arvind Shah said, “I am deeply honoured and happy to receive this award from Her Excellency, The President of India, Smt. Prathibha Patil. I thank the Amravati Cancer Foundation for this recognition. I strongly believe that each one us has a great responsibility to contribute meaningfully to the society we live in and make a huge difference in some way to the lives of our more deserving brethren.”
Dr Shah, a first-generation entrepreneur in the pharmaceutical field, set up the Company in 1988 to manufacture and market Ayurvedic and Allopathy pharma products of global standards. The Company’s contribution in the Ayurvedic field by providing medicines without side effects in the treatment of chronic diseases like diabetes, arthritis, obesity-related cardiac diseases, viral infections like chickungunya and chicken pox, in association with the Department of science and technology (DST), Government of India, and Ramachandra Medical College (SRMC), Chennai, Presidency College and Veterinary University, is worth-mentioning. The company has set up four plants successfully with USFDA and WHOGMP accreditation, generating employment opportunity to nearly one thousand families. Dr Shah is also a social worker and philanthropist and has been successfully managing the 'Madras Pinjrapole Veterinary Hospital', serving nearly 2500 cows and 'Mother’s Hall' at the Government Children Hospital, Egmore, Chennai.
