A conference on Automotive R&D Trends 2015 would be held on February 27, 2012 at 9.30 am at the Ball Room of Hotel Hilton, Guindy in Chennai,


where Victorian Automotive Delegation led by John Conomos AO, Australian Automotive Industry Envoy will enligthen about that country's growth in the automotive segment.


Michael Carter, Consul-Commercial and Trade Commissioner for Australia to South India will grace the occasion. The theme of the conference is 'Automotive Technology - Mobility as a System'.


In the inaugural session,  Anjan Das, Executive Director - Technology, Confederation of Indian Industry will welcome the audience, followed by the theme address, delivered by


Dr V Sumantran, Conference Chairman and Executive Vice Chairman of Hinduja Automotive Limited. Alejandro Vera Casso, Adviser - Investment and Technology Promotion for Asia Pacific, UNIDO will deliver the special address at 10.20 am. Also special address will be delivered by Carter and Conomos.


The inaugural address will be delivered by Dr R Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, followed by the vote of thanks by Dr Sumantran.


After the breif break, the first plenary session, titled 'Efficient Components and Systems for Automotives' will start at 11.15 am, where Dr Arun Jaura, Head - EIEC and Vice President - Technology Eaton Corporation and also the session chairman will make the opening remarks.

This will be followe by a series of addresses by Dr Hodgson, Director, Institute for Technology Research and Innovation, Deakin University, Australia; Surinder Choudhari, Chairman and Managing Director, Surin Automotive Private Limited; Prof Ajay Kapoor, Associate Dean - Research, Swinburne University; Sunil Kaul, President and COO, Behr India Limited and mark Trigg, Manager Major Projects Development, The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Australia and another speaker from Simpson and Co.

Post lunch, the second plenary session, titled 'Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)' will kick-start. The session chariman, Ravi Pandit, Chairman and Group CEO of KPIT Cummins Info Systems will deliver the opening remarks, followed by addresses of Dr Prakash Bharati, Director - India Science Lab and Chief Scientist - India R&D, General Motors Global R&D and Rakesh Verma, Managing Director of Mapmyindia (tentative). This would be followed by discussion.

The third plenary session, named 'Modern Vehicle Controls - semi and full Autonomous vehicle control' will start at 3.00 pm. The session chairman, Dr Arvind S Bharadwaj, CEO of Automotive Infotronics Private Limited will make the opening remarks followed by addresses by Piyush Arora, Director - Technical, Mercedes-Benz India (tentative); Thomas Maler, Principal Engineer, UL International of Denmark and Shamprasad Ponkshe, Executive Vice President - R&D, Asia Motor Works Limited (tentative). The fourth and the concluding plenary session, titled 'Intelligent Vehicle and Road Systems, Transportation Management & Road and Traffic Safety Technologies' will start at 4.30 pm. The session chairman, Jayendra Parikh, Executive Director - Advanced Engineering and Mission Summit, Ashok Leyland Limited (tentative) will make the opening remarks, while other speakers include an expert from Toyota Kirloskar Motor (tentative), another speaker from AirTel (tentative) and Srinath K Narayan, Director, Siemens Industry Software (India) Private Limited.
