Textile Industry, Government of Andhra Pradesh, plans to set up monitoring and review committees at state and district levels, to oversee implementation of the Central Government’s restructuring package for handloom sector, according to a fibre2fashion report.

The state government has formed the State Implementation Monitoring and Review Committee (SIMRC), which will be headed by the Principal Secretary (Industries and Commerce), and also District Implementation Monitoring and Review committees (DIMRCs).
The Government of India’s package for the revival and reform of the handloom sector, which is to be implemented between March 31, 2010 and December 31, 2012, is currently being implemented by the Director of Handlooms and Textiles and Apparel export parks.
Since it is mandatory to update the books of accounts for implementation of the restructuring package of all the apex and primary weaver societies that were audited as on March 31, 2010. The state government will assist NABARD in identification of viable and potentially viable weaver societies, as well as in conducting special audit exercise and in writing-off individual weaver loans as per the guidelines issued by the Central Government.
